Supporting your Immunity

Boiled water is a great way to easily dissolve mucus.
Always bring your water to a rolling boil - activating the elements within.

We have been exploring supercharged hydration. Tea rituals have been around forever and cross many cultures. Ayurveda looks at this simple Sadhana (practice) as a way to bring nutrition, cleansing, rejuvenation and self-care in one little mug. Drastic weather changes have created mental spin-outs for many of our clients. The Air element is pushing everyone around. This has created a greater sense of vulnerability. Top that vulnrablity with the heavy earthy winter component, and you end up with a cold, wet, heavy combo that will sit on your back like a ton of bricks. When that Earth element sets up in your body you're in for a strong feeling of stagnation.

We have been actively balancing that feeling of stagnation with the soft feeling of love. Earth/Kapha are sweet, loving, strength and our foundation. We need them. When the weather steps into Earth/Kapha time we need to cultivate the opposite. You'll hear us repeat this phrase over and over again.

Using a tea, formula or blends, has been a creative way for us to practice a personalized healing option. It's a way to support our individual needs, tastes and flavors.

A simple way to start is with a simple single herb tea. Rosemary Tea is a great options as it pacifies both Vata and Kapha.

Rosemary Benefits:

Pretty amazing for one simple little herb.

1 1/2 teaspoon Rosemary needles

2 cups water

Bring water to boil add herb and simmer 5 minutes. Strain and enjoy. Adding honey after cooled. (for added astringency) Optional add 1/4-1/2 teaspoon ghee (this will act as a carrier and take the properties deeper into the body.

While we will remain in Kapha season for a few more weeks and it's important to reduce the food items that will increase mucus formation. Anything that is cold, wet, and heavy should be reduces or eliminated.

Foods to Remove/Reduce:

Ice cream

Strain out spices and enjoy - Embrace your Self-care!

2 cup water

1/4 teaspoon turmeric

2 teaspoon fresh ginger

1 cinnamon stick

5 black peppercorns (quick crushed)

1 teaspoon Tulsi or 1 tea bag

1/4-1/2 teaspoon MTC oil (Pitta)

1/4-1/2 teaspoon Ghee (Vata & Kapha)

Enjoy whatever tea you choose in a beautiful mug. Take the time to sit and sip. Taking in the aroma and giving yourself the gift of self reflection. What more do you need to do to heal? Are you resting enough? Are you hydrated? Are you eating fresh cooked foods?

Ponder those questions. Wrap yourself in a snuggly blanket, play some soft music and sip the healing beverage that you have created for yourself.
